When it all gets to be too much.

This blog was originally written December 19, 2008 by me.

Well some of you know and some of you don't know what I have been dealing with this past year.
In March I was carrying two boxes into the house - very light - I was holding them with one hand and using my chin to hold the top of them. I reached into my pocket and pulled out my keys, when I put them in the door and opened it I felt a sharp pain shoot into my right shoulder from the middle of my upper back and then shoot into my chest. Immediatley I felt like my back and chest needed to pop and was out of place. I moved my arms a little to try and adjust and SNAP! The pain was strong in the center of my breastbone, it felt badly bruised and sore when I would move my arms.

So I went in to see the doctor. He said with all the stress I was under my body was more prone to injury through simple things. Well apparently I cracked the cartilidge in my chest, which is similar to breaking a rib, there is no fix you just let it heal.

I still have that pain that does the shooting and feeling like it needs to crack. It was off and on since march, it would come and go and the severity would change each time too. This past month or two it has become much more regular - everyday! So I made an appointment and went in to see the Doctor again. My PCM took xrays and prescribed me Motrin 800's. Well the Motrin would cure the migraine for the moment but wouldn't touch the pain in my middle upper back, neck and shoulders or when it would shoot to my chest. So it continued to get worse - daily.
I made another appointment and I am so glad it wasn't my normal PCM who I saw. He pushed on my shoulders and said "WOW, you carry all your tension in your shoulders!" He told me the right side wasn't as bad as the left, that it gives symptoms that are very similar to those with Fibra Mialga (sp?) when it gets as bad as mine had and that it makes you tired, gives you migraines and makes you feel all out of wack. THATS ME!! I thought. He said that the muscles fan out in your shoulders when you hold your tension there but mine LOCKED. It fanned out and wouldn't release. So all this time I have been carrying around all that tension and stress in my shoulders. It runs up your neck and in your head and rests behind your eyes - the migraines. He prescribed me Flexeril which is a muscle relaxer. Which I asked the doctor about back in March and they didn't listen just prescribed me more motrin. This doctor said that motrin wouldn't help whats going on with me only suppress it temporarily. But the first time I took the flexeril, immediatley I felt relief, of course the next day it was back but not as bad.
The only problem is they make me feel out of it sometimes, causing me to get tired a little while after taking them. I try not to take them during the day but I think my body is responding less and less each time I take them. But the doctor said if the pills don't help release the tension then I can come back and he will do injections that are like acupunture in the muscle and the tension will release immediately. That may be the route I have to go, we will see. I will give it until my follow up appt which is January 8.

Alright sorry about the long rambling story but that is why I may seem like something is wrong or have been not myself lately. Its been going on so long I don't know what it feels like to wake up and not feel like I am carrying a huge load on my back.
